I could give you the best formula for writing sales ads. I could share with you David Sedaris’ tricks to writing seductive first sentences. I could hand you a cheat sheet for hypnotic storytelling.
But it does’t matter.
What I can’t give you are the 12 years of experience using that formula, those tricks or that cheat sheet. Nor can I give you my style that I’ve developed over the last twelve years.
All I can give you is a framework (a lifeless framework).
You have to take that framework and work it until your fingers are sore. You have to take that framework, crawl into a hole and write.
The framework is worthless unless you have a case of rage to master. Unless you write like a gun were to your head. Every day for the next ten years.
The bad news is this amounts to more advice. Hard advice. The good news is it’s the best kind of advice. That kind of advice that matters the most.

Great point. Probably why it can seem so insincere when somebody had gotten hold of said cheat sheets and abuses the various headline hacks and copy writing ‘secrets’. Still it’s a first step I guess.
Definitely a first step. That never ends. 🙂
